Grading System
I use a non-weighted grading system. This means that the total points earned by a student are divided by the total possible points to determine a percentage. Students will earn points from quizzes, tests, writing assignments, projects, notebooks, and homework. Unless a student is absent, late homework will not be accepted although it still should be done for the invaluable practice that it provides and in preparation for the quarterly notebook test. For those students who are absent, they will have the number of days that they are absent to complete homework and make-up quizzes/tests. For example, a student who is absent three days will have three days to make-up his/her work. Partially completed homework assignments will not receive any credit. Lastly, students are strongly encouraged to participate in class. For every correct oral response, they will earn a color-coded Euro. Euros are carefully saved and subsequently turned in at the end of each marking period at which time they are converted into classroom participation points.

Required Materials
All students are required to maintain a notebook exclusively devoted to French. It is to be a 3-ring looseleaf binder or a spiral notebook divided into 4 sections: 1. Homework 2. Classwork/Drills 3. Grammar Notes 4. Vocabulary All pages should be dated and all homework should clearly show the exercise and textbook page number of the assignment. Near the end of each quarter a notebook test will be given. This is an easy way to earn an excellent grade, provided the student has kept the properly organized notebook. It is also recommended that students purchase a French/English dictionary.
